The Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities is an international local and non-governmental organization. It has four decades of continuous and specialized work in institutional strengthening and the promotion of public policies through training and city-city cooperation; valuing a heritage of knowledge and expertise that is unique and exclusive in the Ibero-American sphere.

UCCI has a local, regional and global impact to promote the strengthening of international action of cities, technical cooperation and the construction of sustainable alliances, in the framework of Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In its Strategic Plan 2021-2024, the network establishes the planning of concrete actions aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of Ibero-American cities in the definition and construction of public policies to promote sustainable urban development. Convinced of the fundamental role of local governments in mitigating and adapting to climate change, building resilience and promoting equity, UCCI adopts the commitment to innovation and sustainability as the main axes to support the efforts of cities to become resilient, inclusive and carbon neutral territories.

Celebrating that Rio de Janeiro is again hosting a meeting of international relevance for building a policy dialogue on Sustainable Development; UCCI highlights the city as UCCI Vice President for Environment and Sustainability, supporting the Rio+30 Cities process to generate sustainable partnerships and advance a roadmap with concrete actions for integrated, fair, green and resilient urban development.I
